Zimbabwe — find the right stay, from deciding to booking
“The World Heritage curtain of Victoria Falls, elephant safaris, and the ancient stone city of Great Zimbabwe”
Zimbabwe is a land of the largest curtain of water in the world and two World Heritage sites — Victoria Falls, which Zambians and Zimbabweans call Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders), Hwange National Park, home to the largest elephant herds in Africa, the ruins of the ancient stone city of Great Zimbabwe, a symbol of pre-colonial greatness, and the balancing boulders of Matobo — a safari land that's still the real thing.

🚆 Getting around Zimbabwe
Flying in and out
Harare International Airport (HRE) and Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) are the main gateways.
Self-drive rental
Drive on the left; roads between cities are reasonably good — best for experienced independent travelers.
Bus and minibus
Intercity buses are cheap but slow and crowded; minibuses (kombi) are handier within cities.
Domestic flights
Flying Harare–Victoria Falls saves time (versus 8+ hours of driving).
Taxi / hailing apps
Negotiate the fare before boarding city taxis; the Hwindi app is popular in Harare.
🛂 Etiquette & culture in Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwean greeting
Shaking hands while supporting your forearm with the other hand, or clapping, is a respectful greeting.
Mbira music
The thumb piano is a heritage of Shona music, used in spiritual ceremonies and festivals.
Ask before photographing people
Photographing locals without asking is considered rude — always ask permission first.
Tipping is customary
Tips are expected at restaurants, hotels, and for safari guides — about 10–15% or 1–2 USD.
Respect the parks
Don't leave your vehicle in park areas, don't feed the animals, and follow your guide's instructions closely.

Do Thai citizens need a visa?+
Apply for an e-visa or get a VOA (Visa on Arrival) at the border. Check the latest requirements before traveling, as policies can change.
