🚆 Getting around Arusha
Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)
The main international airport is about 50 km away (roughly a 1-hour drive). In-town Arusha Airport (ARK) handles domestic and small-plane flights to the Serengeti.
Dala dala (minibuses)
Public minibuses run along the main roads across the city, around 400 TSH a ride. The cheapest option, though crowded and they leave only when full.
Bajaji (tuk-tuks) & taxis
Three-wheeled bajaji are easy to flag — roughly a dollar into the center. A taxi across town shouldn't top about $2.50. Agree the fare before you ride.
Shuttle to Nairobi (Kenya)
Tourist shuttles run Arusha–Nairobi via the Namanga border in about 5–6 hours (~274 km) for around $25, with hotel pickups available.
Cash (TSH) & mobile money
