Where to stay in Ljubljana — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Ljubljana is the compact, walkable capital of Slovenia — the kind of city you can cover on foot in a day yet keep falling for. It's defined by the Dragon Bridge, guarded by four copper dragons (the city's emblem), the elegant Triple Bridge by architect Jože Plečnik, café terraces lining the Ljubljanica River, and a medieval castle on the hill above the old town with views as far as the Alps. Named European Green Capital 2016, its center is the largest pedestrian zone in Europe — closed to cars since 2007 — so it stays quiet, clean, and made for slow wandering. If you want a capital without the chaos, this is it.
Why stay in Ljubljana
Walk the whole city
The center is Europe's largest pedestrian zone, car-free since 2007. Nearly every sight is a short stroll apart — you won't need transport at all.
Dragons and a river
The dragon is everywhere, from the famous Dragon Bridge to the castle. The Ljubljanica River is the city's living room, lined with café terraces on both banks.
Clean and green
Crowned European Green Capital 2016, with the vast Tivoli Park right beside the center. Fresh air, calm pace, genuinely restful.
Better value than the rest
Hotels, food, and daily costs run cheaper than most Western European capitals — without giving up beauty or quality.
