Tips before you go to Saint Lucia
- A boat tour from Rodney Bay to the Pitons gives better views than driving and can include Soufrière in one day.
- The sulphur springs at Soufrière are good for the skin, but don't wear silver jewelry (it will tarnish).
- To rent a car you must first get a Temporary Driving Permit — a small fee at the airport.
- Always agree the taxi fare before you get in, or ask to see the standard rate sheet.
- Don't miss the Friday-night party (Jump Up) at Gros Islet with live music and local food.
- Avoid the hurricane peak in Sep–Oct, but the rest of the rainy season has short showers and much lower prices.
