Where to stay in Bergen — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Bergen is Norway's historic west-coast port and the gateway to the fjords. Its heart is Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic wharf where rows of colourful wooden houses line the harbour and hide a warren of craft shops and galleries. Add a working fish market, two ways up the mountains, and fjord cruises that leave straight from the city centre, and you have one of Scandinavia's most photogenic cities. Ringed by seven mountains and famously the rainiest city in Europe, Bergen rewards anyone who packs a raincoat and stays a little longer.
Why stay in Bergen
Bryggen, a UNESCO site

Cruises leave right from the harbour, and Bergen is the launch point for Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord — two of Norway's longest and most beautiful fjords.
Mountains made easy
Ride the Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen in six minutes, or the Ulriken cable car to Bergen's highest peak at 643 m for sweeping views over city, fjord and mountains.
World-class seafood
Bergen has traded seafood for over 800 years. The central fish market serves fresh fish, mussels and shellfish alongside local classics like Bergen fish soup.
