Where to stay in Budva — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Budva is Montenegro's flagship beach resort on the Adriatic coast, where a 2,500-year-old walled Old Town meets turquoise water and the liveliest nightlife in the Balkans. It's compact enough to explore on foot in a day, yet packed with stone-lined lanes, sandy coves and hilltop clubs. Stay inside the Old Town for romance and atmosphere, or pick a beach district like Bečići for a calmer pace, every part of town is an easy walk from the sea.
Why stay in Budva
A walkable walled Old Town
Stari Grad sits on a small peninsula and you can see it all in half a day, ancient stone walls, old churches, the Citadela fortress, and cafes tucked into narrow lanes. Climb the walls for sea views over Sveti Nikola Island.
Beaches all along the Riviera
From Slovenska Beach in town, walk the cliff path to Mogren Beach behind the walls, or head to the broader Jaz and Bečići beaches stretching over 1.5 km, fine sand and clear water for swimming and sunbathing.
The Balkans' party capital
Beach clubs along Slovenska and Bečići run from mid-June to mid-September with sunset DJ sets, while hilltop clubs like Top Hill hold thousands of guests, drawing partygoers from across the region.
A base for the whole coast
Sitting mid-coast, Budva makes easy day trips to Sveti Stefan, the Bay of Kotor and Cetinje. Tivat airport is just 20 km away, so getting in and out is quick.

🚆 Getting around Budva
Tivat Airport (TIV), the closest
About 20 km from Budva. A taxi takes roughly 20 minutes and costs around EUR 15-19, or take the bus from Tivat's station to Budva for about EUR 4, though you'll walk to the station first.
Podgorica Airport (TGD)
Around 65 km away with no direct bus to Budva. Take a taxi or transfer to the bus station, then a bus on to Budva, worth it if the flight is cheaper than to Tivat.
Buses link the coast
Budva's bus station connects to Kotor and Herceg Novi in the north, Bar and Ulcinj in the south, and Cetinje/Podgorica inland. Cheap and handy for day trips.
Taxis are easy in town
Taxi ranks sit along Slovenska Obala, by the bus station and in Bečići. The town is small, so rides are short and inexpensive, useful for the farther beaches.
Pays in euros, carry some cash
Montenegro uses the euro (EUR) despite not being in the eurozone. Cards work at larger venues and hotels, but keep euro cash for small shops, beach bars and buses.
