Where to stay in Paphos — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Paphos is a seaside town listed by UNESCO in its entirety, on the southwest coast of Cyprus. A short walk from the old harbour you'll find world-class Roman mosaics that are nearly 1,800 years old, the underground Tombs of the Kings, a Byzantine castle on the water, and golden-sand beaches at Coral Bay just a few kilometres away. Down the coast sits Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou), the mythical birthplace of the goddess of love. Sunshine almost year-round, friendly locals, and an easy walkable centre — the TopOfHotel team has gathered the real places to stay, eat and explore.
Why stay in Paphos
A whole city of heritage
Paphos Archaeological Park packs the Roman mosaic houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus plus a Roman Odeon — easily a full day of exploring.
Birthplace of Aphrodite
Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite's Rock), the legendary spot where the goddess of love rose from the sea, sits about 25 km down the coast.
Golden sand, clear water
Coral Bay is a Blue Flag beach with soft sand and shallow, calm water — about a 20-minute drive from Kato Paphos.
Sunshine almost all year
A Mediterranean climate means hot dry summers and mild winters, so Paphos works as a destination in nearly every season.

Where should I stay in Paphos for a first visit?+
Kato Paphos is the best base — it's right by the harbour, castle, ruins and beaches, all walkable, with stays at every price point. For a quieter beach choose Coral Bay; for a more local feel head to the Old Town (Pano Paphos).
How many days do you need in Paphos?+
About 3-4 days is ideal — one or two days for the in-town ruins, harbour and Tombs of the Kings, then a day or two out of town for Aphrodite's Rock, Coral Bay and the Akamas Peninsula.
Is it hard to get around Paphos without trains?+
Cyprus has no railways, so you rely on Pafos Buses (around €2 a ride). Kato Paphos is very walkable, but if you want to explore beyond town, renting a car is easiest — remember they drive on the left.
