Where to stay in San Pedro — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
San Pedro is the main town on Ambergris Caye, Belize's largest island — a 25-mile-long sliver of sand in the Caribbean Sea and the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Belize Barrier Reef, which sits just half a mile offshore. This is diver heaven: swim with nurse sharks and stingrays at Shark Ray Alley, drift over the coral at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and dive or fly over the world-famous Great Blue Hole. The town itself is laid-back — everyone gets around by golf cart, English is spoken island-wide, and beachfront stays run from budget rooms downtown to luxury resorts up north. This guide rounds up where to stay, what to see, and where to eat in San Pedro, all in one place.

Do I need to be a certified diver to see the Great Blue Hole?+
No. Non-divers can snorkel the rim, or take a scenic flight to see the famous blue circle from above. Only certified scuba divers can descend into the hole itself.
