Fue el primer puerto del país en abrirse al comercio exterior en 1868, y hoy todavía se siente esa apertura: mansiones de estilo europeo en el barrio de Kitano, el wagyu más famoso del mundo trinchado en los mostradores de teppanyaki, y el paseo marítimo de Harborland donde el centro comercial Mosaic mira el resplandor nocturno del monte Rokko (oficialmente una de las tres mejores vistas nocturnas de Japón, junto a Hakodate y Nagasaki). Además, es una base perfecta en el Kansai, aunque no todo el mundo lo sabe. Osaka está a 30 minutos en tren, Kioto a 50 y Universal Studios es una excursión fácil. ¿Vale la pena la vista nocturna del monte Rokko?
Muchísimo: es oficialmente una de las tres mejores vistas nocturnas de Japón. Sube en el teleférico Rokko (¥1,030, unos ~$7) hasta Tenran-dai y la terraza Maya View a 702 metros. Verás las luces de Kobe, Osaka e incluso la isla de Awaji en noches despejadas. Lo mejor es en invierno con el cielo limpio. Las terrazas de observación son gratuitas y abren de 10:00 a 21:00.
¿Qué es Arima Onsen?
Arima es la fuente termal más antigua de Japón, con 1.300 años de historia de baños. Hay dos tipos de agua: Kinsen (Manantial Dorado, marrón rojizo por el hierro y la sal) y Ginsen (Manantial de Plata, transparente y con gas carbónico). Se llega en teleférico Rokko más un autobús de 30 minutos desde el centro de Kobe. La entrada al baño público son ¥800 (unos ~$5): una ganga para un baño milenario.
¿Cómo llegar a Kobe desde Osaka?
Tres opciones en tren, todas baratas y rápidas. JR Tokaido Line desde la Estación de Osaka: 30 min, ¥420 (unos ~$3), llega a Sannomiya. Línea Hanshin desde Umeda: 32 min, ¥330. Línea Hankyu desde Hankyu Umeda: 33 min, ¥330. El JR es el más rápido y fiable. El Shinkansen para este trecho corto es innecesario.
