Planning a Tokyo Disney trip with the kids and wondering whether it's worth paying to sleep in one of Disney's own hotels, and if so, which one fits your family best? Tokyo Disney Resort has 6 hotels that Disney actually owns, from a Victorian castle facing the park gates, to hotels built inside DisneySea where you can watch the show from your bed, to a fun Toy Story-themed hotel and a budget pick that still feels every bit Disney. In this guide we go deep on all six from a family-with-kids angle, covering where you can meet Mickey at the breakfast table, which themed rooms make kids shriek, which ones you can walk into the park from, and what the pools are like, and we line up prices from three OTAs in one place. Two of these, MiraCosta and the new Fantasy Springs Hotel, sit literally inside DisneySea; the cheapest, Celebration Hotel, sits outside the resort with a free shuttle. Scroll down for the full review of each.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel — hotel No. 1 #1 Disney Official · Across from the Main Gate · Character Rooms 9.3

📍 Directly across from the Tokyo Disneyland Main Gate — Disney's own Victorian-elegance hotel, a 1-minute walk to the park entrance.

🏰 Across from the Disneyland Main Gate 🎭 Character Rooms in 4 themes Happy 15 Entry — into the park 15 minutes early
Disney Official HotelAcross from Disneyland Main GateCharacter Rooms 4 themesHappy 15 Entry

The list opens with the flagship of Tokyo's Disney side — Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, a dome-roofed Victorian building that sits directly across from the Tokyo Disneyland gate, a few minutes' walk away. It is the best pick for families who want to go all-out for their kids. What children love most are the Character Rooms in 4 themes — Alice, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, and Beauty & the Beast — decked out so completely that kids refuse to leave. Add the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for princess makeovers and the mountain-themed Misty Mountains Pool (open in summer). Parents will love Happy 15 Entry, which gets you into the park 15 minutes before everyone else, plus a free monorail pass — easy to bring the kids back for a midday nap and head out again for the evening. Straight talk: it is the priciest of the group, and there is no character dining here (for that, go to the Ambassador). But for a fairy-tale stay closest to the gate, this is the answer. Review score 9.3/10.

  • Across from the Disneyland Main Gate, a 1-minute walk to the entrance
  • Character Rooms in 4 themes (Alice, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, Beauty & the Beast)
  • Happy 15 Entry — guests get into the park 15 minutes early
  • Priciest of the Disney hotels — from about $414/night
  • No character dining where the characters come to your table

Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta — hotel No. 2 #2 Premium · inside DisneySea park · Harbor View 9.4

📍 Inside Tokyo DisneySea Park — the only Disney hotel woven into the park's own structure, overlooking Mediterranean Harbor and Mt. Prometheus. Disney Resort Line Tokyo DisneySea Station sits right beside it; Maihama Station is a 15-minute walk.

🏝️ The only hotel built inside DisneySea 🛏️ Harbor View rooms see the show and fireworks from bed 💰 From about $530/night, Harbor View $800+
Inside DisneySea parkHotel/Park Gateway accessHarbor View show roomsHappy 15 Entry

There is nothing else like it anywhere — Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta is built straight into the Italian-port scenery of Tokyo DisneySea, so its cream-and-yellow Riviera facade is literally part of the park you walk through. The room that wins families over is the Harbor View side: open the curtains and you watch the over-water show and fireworks from bed, no fighting for a spot along the bay. Mornings, you cross the hotel's own private gateway straight into the park — no long walk for tired kids. A free trundle bed sleeps a third guest, children's pajamas are free, and BellaVista has a full kids' menu. Be honest with yourself first: this is the priciest hotel of the group and the hardest to book, the pool costs extra on top of the room, and there is no full character dining — the draw is the show views, not meeting Mickey. But if your dream is to actually stay inside DisneySea, nothing compares. It holds the highest review score on the list at 9.4/10.

  • Built inside DisneySea — the architecture is part of the park
  • Harbor View rooms see the show and fireworks from bed
  • Private Hotel/Park gateway straight into the park
  • Priciest of the Disney hotels and the hardest to book
  • Pool and spa charged separately from the room

Disney Ambassador Hotel — hotel No. 3 #3 Disney Official · Art Deco · Chef Mickey 9.1

📍 Next to the Ikspiari shopping mall, midway between Disneyland and DisneySea, a 7-minute walk to Maihama Station.

🎨 1930s Art Deco, opened 2000 🐭 Chef Mickey character dining 🛍️ Next to Ikspiari mall
Disney Official HotelArt Deco 1930s styleChef Mickey character diningHappy 15 Entry

Disney Ambassador Hotel was the first Disney hotel in Japan, opened in 2000 in a 1930s Art Deco Hollywood style, and it is the cheapest of the three Disney Official hotels. The real draw for families with little kids is Chef Mickey, the buffet restaurant where Mickey in his chef whites comes out to greet you and pose for photos right at your table (kids under 3 eat free). Add Character Rooms in five themes (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip & Dale, Stitch) packed with enough detail that kids refuse to leave, plus a spot right next to the Ikspiari mall for easy dinners and shopping. Straight talk on the trade-offs: it is not next to a park (you ride the monorail or shuttle), there is no free monorail pass, and it is the oldest building of the group. But if the goal is your kid's grin when they meet Mickey, on a lighter budget, this is the best value. Score 9.1/10.

  • Japan's first Disney hotel, opened 2000
  • Chef Mickey character dining at the table
  • Cheapest of the Disney Official hotels
  • Not next to a park — ride the monorail or shuttle
  • No free monorail pass and the oldest building of the group

Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel — hotel No. 4 #4 Disney in-park hotel · newest 2024, inside DisneySea with Fantasy Springs views 9.2

📍 Inside Tokyo DisneySea in the Fantasy Springs zone — Disney's newest hotel, opened 2024. Two wings: Fantasy Chateau (deluxe) and Grand Chateau (luxury). A private gate walks you into the park in about 5 minutes from Bayside Station.

🆕 Disney's newest, opened 2024 🏰 Built inside DisneySea 🚪 Private Fantasy Springs entrance
Newest Disney hotel 2024Inside DisneySeaFantasy Springs view roomsPrivate park entrance

The newest and hottest Disney hotel right now — Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel opened in June 2024 and is only the second hotel built inside DisneySea (after MiraCosta). The whole place is done in an Art Nouveau style, all flowers and Rapunzel vines. What families fall for is the Springs Side rooms, which look out over the Frozen, Rapunzel and Peter Pan lands, plus the private park gate that puts you inside DisneySea in 5 minutes — no long detour. There are two wings: Fantasy Chateau (deluxe) and Grand Chateau (luxury, 70-100 sqm rooms with a balcony). Kids are fully sorted, from pull-out beds and cribs to children's pajamas and a nursing room. Straight talk: it's very expensive (Grand Chateau runs into six figures in yen) and the hardest room in Tokyo to book. But if you want the newest, prettiest stay closest to Fantasy Springs, this is the answer. Score 9.2/10.

  • Disney's newest hotel, built inside DisneySea
  • Springs Side rooms overlook the Fantasy Springs lands
  • Walk into the park through a private gate
  • Very expensive (Grand Chateau runs six figures in yen)
  • Extremely hard to book — new and in huge demand

Tokyo Disney Toy Story Hotel — hotel No. 5 #5 Disney Official · Toy Story theme · next to Bayside Station 8.8

📍 On the Bayside side of Tokyo Disney Resort, right beside Bayside Station — a Disney hotel themed on Toy Story that opened in 2022, with a free monorail and shuttle to both parks, about a 3-minute walk to the station.

🤠 Every room is Andy's bedroom 🚀 Giant Woody and Buzz statues 🚝 Next to Bayside Station
Toy Story themed Disney hotelAndy's bedroom roomsNext to Bayside StationFree monorail to both parks

If your kid is a die-hard Toy Story fan, the Tokyo Disney Toy Story Hotel is a dream. This Disney Official hotel opened in 2022 and commits to the theme down to every square inch — starting with the rooms, each designed as Andy's bedroom (cloud-sky wallpaper, a TV framed like a red Etch-A-Sketch, Woody, Jessie and Buzz headboards), out to the giant Woody and Buzz statues on the plaza, a jigsaw-puzzle lobby floor and rainbow colored-pencil columns. Kids light up the moment they walk in. The hotel sits right next to Bayside Station, with a free monorail looping to both parks. Children 12 and under sleep free on the existing bed. Straight talk: there is no pool and no character dining (the characters do not come to your table), and rooms run small. But if the goal is full Toy Story fun at a price gentler than the deluxe hotels, it is a strong pick. Score 8.8/10.

  • Full Toy Story theme in every room
  • Next to Bayside Station, free monorail
  • Kids 12 and under sleep free
  • No pool and no character dining
  • Small rooms, not next to a park

Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel — hotel No. 6 #6 Disney Value · cheapest in the family · full-wall Disney murals 8.6

📍 In the Shin-Urayasu area, outside the resort — the most affordable Disney hotel, split into two buildings (Discover and Wish), with a free shuttle straight to both parks in about 20 minutes.

💰 Cheapest of the Disney hotels 🎨 Full-wall Disney murals in the rooms 🚌 Free shuttle to both parks
Cheapest Disney hotelDisney mural roomsDiscover and Wish buildingsFree shuttle to both parks

Short of the budget for a deluxe hotel but still want your kids to get that Disney feeling? Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel is the answer — the cheapest hotel in the Disney family, split across two differently themed buildings: Discover (adventure and pirates) and Wish (dreams and princesses). The part kids love most is the giant wall-to-wall Disney murals inside the rooms — Cinderella Castle, Ariel, Pooh, Alice and it's a small world. Standard rooms sleep 4, and up to two children aged 11 or under stay free. The hotel sits outside the resort in the Shin-Urayasu area, with its own free shuttle running straight to both parks in around 20 minutes. The trade-offs, stated plainly: you depend on that shuttle (it's not next to a park), the Disney perks are thinner than at a deluxe, and there's no pool. But for families watching the budget, it's hard to beat. Score 8.6/10.

  • Cheapest of the Disney hotels, from around $129/night
  • Full-wall Disney murals plus great family-room value
  • Free shuttle straight to both parks in about 20 minutes
  • Outside the resort — you depend on the shuttle
  • Thin Disney perks and no swimming pool

Frequently Asked Questions

How many hotels does Disney actually own at Tokyo Disney Resort?
There are 6 hotels owned by Disney itself — Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta, Disney Ambassador Hotel, DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel (new in 2024), Toy Story Hotel and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. MiraCosta and Fantasy Springs are built right "inside" DisneySea.
How are these different from the Official Hotels (Hilton, Sheraton)?
The real Disney hotels are owned by Disney, so they come with the full set of perks (Happy Entry, all-in theming, and at some you can walk straight into the park). The Official and Partner Hotels are run by other chains nearby — lighter on price, but with fewer Disney perks.
Which hotel lets you meet Mickey at the table (character dining)?
Disney Ambassador Hotel — its Chef Mickey restaurant, where Mickey in his chef outfit comes round to greet you at the table, is the number-one draw for families with young kids. The other hotels lean more on theming, views and location.
Which is the cheapest, and which is the most expensive?
The cheapest is Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel (outside the resort, with a free shuttle), from around $129 a night. The most expensive is the Grand Chateau wing of Fantasy Springs Hotel, which starts in the six figures in yen — from about $2,040 a night. Pick by your budget and your family's style.
