In-Depth Review
The St. Regis Astana opened in 2017 as the first St. Regis in Central Asia. It sits right on the Ishim River near Bayterek Tower, and it scores 9.1/10 on Agoda — with guests singling out the butler service and the rooms.
Rooms and decor
Rooms start at 50 sqm in a modern-classic style mixed with Kazakh heritage, using local materials like silk and felt in the decor. Every room comes with a 24-hour personal butler who handles whatever you need. Several guests said the butlers here remember your name, your drink, the time you like your coffee — the kind of service that is genuinely hard to find in Central Asia. The Champagne Sabering Ritual held every evening is a St. Regis tradition that goes back to 1904.
Food and amenities
Astor Grill is the main restaurant, a proper steakhouse that also leans into traditional Kazakh food — Beshbarmak, Manti, and the horse meat that is part of the local table. Marble Bar pours signature cocktails with live music in the evenings. The Iridium Spa is St. Regis's own spa brand, focused on Turkish hammam, oil massage and skin treatments. There is also a 25-metre indoor pool with a city view.
Location and getting there
You are on Akmeshit Street, right on the Ishim River in the new business district. Bayterek Tower is a 10-to-15-minute walk (800m) along the well-kept Nurzhol Boulevard. Khan Shatyr is about 10 minutes by taxi. The airport, NQZ, is 17 km out, a 25-minute drive — and your butler can arrange the airport car.
Things to know before booking
Rates start at roughly $223 a night and climb to around $686 for the top suites, so this is the premium end of Astana. It is also a large hotel, which means a few corners feel less private than a small boutique would. And peak season and conference dates book out fast — lock in your room early if your travel is fixed.
Our take
If the butler service is what sells you on St. Regis, the Astana property delivers it properly, and the riverfront spot 800m from Bayterek is hard to beat. Pair that with the Astor Grill steakhouse and the indoor pool, and it earns its 9.1.
