In-Depth Review
Shangri-La Paris is more than a hotel — it is an hotel particulier built in 1896 for Prince Roland Bonaparte, grandnephew of Napoleon I. It stands on the Seine in the 16th arrondissement, directly across from the Eiffel Tower. The overall review score is 9.4/10 from more than 510 guests, and it has taken a Top Choice Award several years running.
Rooms and decor
All 100 rooms and suites are done in classic Louis XVI style with contemporary touches. Rooms facing the Seine get a direct Eiffel Tower view, with a large balcony, chairs and a table for watching the tower over morning coffee. Several reviews describe how every window frames the tower almost perfectly. That said, some note the view from lower floors is less striking than higher up, so it is worth specifying when you book.
Bathrooms use marble and premium materials, with a soaking tub and luxury bath products. The doors are well soundproofed, the curtains are blackout, and the air-conditioning controls are precise.
Food and amenities
There are three restaurants in the same building. The headliner is L'Abeille, a French restaurant with 2 Michelin stars, alongside La Bauhinia for breakfast and lunch with a tower view. The buffet breakfast draws special praise — more than one review calls it the best breakfast they have ever had.
The pool sits in the basement and is beautifully designed, paired with a spa for massage and full treatments. There is a fitness room and a 24-hour concierge who will arrange trips on request.
Location and getting there
The address is 10 Avenue d'Iena in the 16th arrondissement. Iena station on line 9 is about a 5-minute walk; from there it is just 2 stops to Champs-Elysees Clemenceau. The Eiffel Tower is across the river — about 10 to 12 minutes on foot over the Pont d'Iena — and Trocadero, home to the best tower photo spot, is an 8-minute walk.
Things to know before booking
The price is the obvious one: rates start around $915 a night and reach roughly $3,400, the highest on this list and out of reach for many budgets. Some reviews say the Standard rooms are smaller than the website photos make them look. And the Eiffel view is not guaranteed on lower floors, so ask for a high room facing the river when you reserve.
Our take
Shangri-La Paris is for couples coming to the city for something specific — an anniversary, a honeymoon, New Year, or simply the wish to stay in the best hotel Paris has, no questions asked. From around $915 a night it is steep, but if an Eiffel Tower view from your own balcony is what you are after, this place has no rival.

- A 9.4/10 overall review score from more than 510 guests, with staff service singled out for praise time and again.
- The building is the former private palace of Prince Roland Bonaparte, built in 1896, with genuine Louis XVI architecture rather than a modern lobby dressed up to look old.

- A full pool and spa in the heart of the 16th arrondissement, plus a fitness room and a 24-hour concierge.
- Rates start around $915 a night and run to roughly $3,400 — the highest on this list, and not for every budget.
- Some reviews say the Standard rooms are smaller than the website photos suggest.
- Lower-floor rooms may not get a clean Eiffel view, so it is worth asking for a higher floor facing the river when you book.
