The top-floor Club Bar is the headline. It's open all day for working, reading or meeting people, with free non-alcoholic drinks and coffee throughout, and from 17:00 to 22:30 it turns into a free aperitif — Loire wine, beer, cheese, bread and a buffet of nibbles, all included. One traveler put it plainly: the included aperitif makes Okko better value than the other 4-stars in town. Breakfast is always in the rate too — French staples like croissants, baguette, cheese and ham alongside yogurt, fruit and fresh juice. There's a basic gym and meeting rooms for business guests. Parking costs extra and must be booked ahead, but most people arrive by train, so it's rarely an issue.

Location and getting there

The location is the best on this list for TGV travelers — the hotel sits right next to Château des Ducs de Bretagne, the city's main castle, and just 400 metres from Gare de Nantes, a flat 5-minute walk. The Bouffay district is also 5 minutes on foot, Cathédrale Saint-Pierre about 8 minutes, and Les Machines de l'Île is roughly 4 stops on tram line 1 or a 20-minute walk across the Anne de Bretagne bridge. For the airport, NTE connects via the Tan Air shuttle in about 20 minutes.

Things to know before booking

The rooms are small and pared-back — comfortable, but not somewhere you'll want to spend a whole day. There's no main restaurant, so beyond breakfast and the evening aperitif you'll lean on the Club Bar or walk out for meals, which is no hardship given the central spot. And if you're driving, factor in that parking is an extra cost you'll need to arrange in advance.
