Beyond the food there is a big set of facilities — three outdoor pools including a separate kids' pool, the 400 m private beach, the full Resense Spa with an indoor pool, several treatment rooms and a Turkish hammam, a 24-hour gym, the Kempi Kids Club for ages 4-12 with daily activities, and the thing you rarely find elsewhere — a 4-lane bowling alley inside the building, set up like a modern bowling club for an evening out when it is hot outside.

Location and getting there

The short version: if your trip leans on beach time with the occasional run into town, this location is the sweet spot — close enough to the airport that an early flight does not cost you a day, but still an easy drive into the old town when you want to explore.

Things to know before booking

To be straight with you so you can decide — the main trade-off here is the distance to the old town. The Mutrah Souq and historic quarter are about 25 km away, a 30-40 minute drive at rush hour, so anyone set on the old town every day may feel the taxi fares and time add up. If your trip is more sightseeing than relaxing, a city hotel may serve you better. The second point is that food and drink prices inside the hotel run high, especially alcohol because of Oman's steep taxes — several reviews recommend bundling a breakfast or half-board package when you book, or per-meal costs in the hotel restaurants get pricey next to outside places. Last, Al Mouj is a newly developed district, so outside the hotel it is not as lively as the city centre.
