In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Reviewers tend to book the Premium Ocean View, a 60-square-metre unit that plenty of guests just call "the apartment with the killer view." The wide balcony looks straight out over Fuchaku Beach, and the west-facing sun pours in around 17:30. The kitchen is a real one — a 2-burner IH stove, a fridge, a microwave, and a Japanese rice cooker — so you can cook for yourselves if you'd rather not eat out every night. The 9.2 guest score holds steady across every category, with rooms at 9.3, cleanliness 9.3, service 9.2, and the beach at 9.2. There's no obvious soft spot.
Food and amenities
Kafuu has its own Fuchaku Beach right at the resort, fine white sand, and the staff set out canvas chairs and blue umbrellas free for guests — reviews describe reading on the beach most of an afternoon. There's a beach bar pouring a fresh Awamori-Shikuwasa cocktail for about $8, and a rooftop infinity pool that stays open until 21:00. Parking sits under the building, free. The full set of resort facilities is here without losing the apartment-style space that makes the rooms work.
Location and getting there
Onna is the "Riviera of Okinawa" — a 27-km run of beach resorts stretching from Cape Manza down to Cape Maeda, where the water turns a clear turquoise you can see the sand through. Kafuu sits midway along it: 14 minutes from Cape Manza, just 11 minutes from the Blue Cave at Maeda. Guests book the no-certificate snorkel tour there for about $30 a person and watch big schools of clownfish under the limestone cliffs. Driving north to Churaumi takes 80 minutes; south to Naha, about 70.
Things to know before booking
This is a step up in price from the Motobu resorts — figure roughly $30 a night more than Mahaina, with rates opening around $130 ($136 in yen terms) in low season and climbing to about $260 when it's busy. Being mid-island means the Churaumi Aquarium is a genuine drive — 60 km, around 80 minutes — so it's a day trip, not a quick hop. And in high season the rooms book out fast as prices push toward the top of the range, so commit to your dates early.
Our take
Kafuu Resort Fuchaku Condo Hotel is at its best for families and couples who want the Onna beach-resort strip in a roomy condo unit that scores high, with a beach of its own. We recommend it with confidence — it's the strong central-island choice on the Okinawa list, and the price step over Mahaina buys you a noticeably better location and finish.
