In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The hotel runs about 572 rooms, all done in a contemporary style with marble bathrooms. Pull the curtains in a harbour-view room and you are looking straight at the water of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Island skyline — and for the price, that view is a lot of hotel. Some room types do still carry older decor, so it is worth confirming exactly which category you are booking before you commit.
Food and amenities
Food is where this place earns its keep. There are three Michelin-rated restaurants on site: Mistral for Italian, the international Tiffin buffet, and Hoi King Heen for Cantonese. Beyond the table, you get a rooftop outdoor pool with a harbour view, a 24-hour gym, a wellness centre, and the Club InterContinental Lounge for premium guests. The pool is our favourite corner — go up in the evening and you can watch the Symphony of Lights from the water.
Location and getting there
The Grand Stanford sits on Mody Road on the East Tsim Sha Tsui side, facing the harbour and right by the Hong Kong Science Museum. The lobby is generously sized, and as a big-chain property it gives you the reliable, predictable IHG service. It is about 5 minutes on foot to East Tsim Sha Tsui station and roughly 6 to 7 minutes to the Avenue of Stars.
Things to know before booking
This is the East Tsim Sha Tsui side, so it is a little far from Nathan Road if shopping is your priority. The harbour-view rooms are pricier and book up fast, so reserve early if that is the room you are after. And because some categories still run older decor, check the room type at the time of booking rather than assuming a refresh.
Our take
The InterContinental Grand Stanford fits couples and business travellers who want a harbour-front 5-star without paying what the top one or two in this group charge. Real guests score it 8.8/10 across 765 reviews, with rooms from about $190 a night. If you value a rooftop harbour pool and three Michelin restaurants, this is the one we would book.
