In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The 127 rooms run cream and brown tones with parquet floors and cream marble in the bathrooms. Standards are 22-28 sq m and suites 35-50 sq m, with a king or twin bed, a Smart TV, a Nespresso machine and free Wi-Fi. Tripadvisor reviewers single out the bathrooms — clean, modern and bigger than you'd expect at a 4-star in this bracket. Some rooms have a private balcony over the garden or Boulevard Victor Hugo; ask for a Sea View on a high floor and you'll catch the Promenade in the distance.
Food and amenities
The headline feature is the 8th-floor rooftop pool, which looks over the city and Castle Hill and is at its best around sunset. It runs in summer (Apr-Sep), 10:00-19:00, with a bar around the pool serving cocktails and snacks. Downstairs there's a small spa that guests use free — a hammam (Turkish steam bath), a Finnish dry sauna, a warm jacuzzi and a relaxation room with massage chairs. There are three treatment rooms: a 60-minute massage is EUR 90 ($97) and a facial EUR 110 ($119). The gym is open 24 hours with a treadmill, free weights and an exercise bike. Breakfast is not in the rate — it costs EUR 24 ($26) per person.
Location and getting there
The address is Boulevard Victor Hugo 50, central Nice, 600 m from Gare de Nice-Ville (an 8-minute walk) and 550 m from Promenade des Anglais (a 7-minute walk). Tram L1 at Jean Medecin or Massena is a 5-minute walk and reaches Old Town in 8 minutes. Nice airport (NCE) is about 22 minutes on Tram L2 for EUR 1.50 ($1.60). Coastal trains run to Monaco in 20 minutes and Cannes in 30. Place Massena is an 8-minute walk and Cours Saleya 12 minutes.
Things to know before booking
The rooftop pool is summer-only (Apr-Sep) and has no heating, so outside the warm months it is off the table. Breakfast costs EUR 24 ($26) per person on top of the room. Spa treatments are extra too — EUR 70-150 ($76-162) depending on what you book — though the hammam, sauna and jacuzzi are free. And valet parking adds EUR 28 ($30) a night if you're driving.
Our take
Best for families who want a pool and spa near the station, couples after a spa stay on a 4-star budget, and anyone who wants the best of both worlds — close to both the station and the beach. At around $166 a night it runs higher than several station-area options, but it's the rare 4-star here that comes with a rooftop pool and spa. Skip it if you're on a 3-star budget or backpacking.
