In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Rooms are spacious by 5-star standards, with big, soft beds, air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a safe, a mini-bar and marble bathrooms. Guests single out how clean and roomy they are. The ones to ask for are the high north-facing rooms — on a clear day, especially in the early morning, they look out onto the Annapurna range.
Food and amenities
The main restaurant, The Café, runs all day and serves international and Nepali dishes, with the buffet breakfast built into your room rate — varied and freshly made. A second restaurant focuses on local food. The spa does Nepali massage and wellness treatments, and the gym is fully kitted out and open 24 hours. The standout, though, is the big outdoor pool — the largest in town and a hit with kids. Staff work to a 5-star level and speak good English.
Location and getting there
The hotel is in Pardi Bazaar, about 2 km from Phewa Lake and the Lakeside district — a short 5-minute drive. It is not central Lakeside, but that buys you more space and a quieter setting. Sarangkot Viewpoint is around 13 km out, a 30-minute drive. The big advantage is the airport: Pokhara Airport (PKR) is only 3 km away, a 10-minute drive, so flying in and out is easy. The hotel runs an airport shuttle and arranges Sarangkot tours.
Things to know before booking
You are not on the lake, so plan on a short taxi or the hotel car every time you head out for dinner or drinks in Lakeside. Being a large property, it feels busier and less personal than the boutiques by the water. And the Annapurna view is not a given — it is limited to high north-facing rooms and depends entirely on clear skies, so request one and pick your dates with the forecast in mind.
Our take
Hotel Pokhara Grande fits families, business travelers and anyone who wants the full amenity set of a 5-star in one place. It costs less than comparable 5-stars in other cities, and it is the right call if being right on Lakeside is not a priority for you.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The largest 5-star hotel in Pokhara, run to international standards — the most complete amenity set of anything on this list.
- A large outdoor pool, the biggest in the city, which makes this an easy pick for families with kids.
- Spa, a 24-hour gym and two restaurants all under one roof, so you rarely need to leave the property.
- Top north-facing rooms can see the Annapurna range on a clear day, best in the early morning.
- Rates start around $80 a night with buffet breakfast included — well below what a 5-star costs in most cities.
- It is not on Lakeside. You are about 2 km out in Pardi Bazaar, so reaching the lake's restaurants and bars means a short taxi or hotel-car ride.
- This is a large hotel, so the atmosphere is busier and less private than the small boutiques near the water.
- The Annapurna view is weather-dependent and limited to high north-facing rooms — book on a clear-sky day or you may see nothing.

Insider Tips
- Ask for a high north-facing room — the odds of seeing Annapurna are far better up there.
- The pool is the largest in the city and kids love it, so it suits a family trip more than a quick solo stop.
- Use the hotel car or a cheap taxi for the roughly 5-minute run into Lakeside rather than walking it.
