In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The rooms have been updated for comfort but keep the character of the old building — high ceilings, bare stone walls and original wood window frames. You get air-con, free Wi-Fi, a clean modern bathroom and a comfortable bed. Sizes vary room to room because they follow the structure of the building, so it is worth telling the hotel what you need when you book. One thing to know going in: there is no lift, a constraint of preserving the building, so guests who struggle with stairs should think it through first.
Food and amenities
The Konoba — the hotel's cellar-style restaurant set in the original building — has a genuine old-world feel and serves traditional Dalmatian food: Pašticada (beef braised in red wine), black risotto (rice cooked with squid ink), grilled sea fish and a selected list of Croatian wine. Free breakfast is included in the room rate, with Western options plus local prosciutto, cheese and fresh fruit. The staff are friendly and genuinely know Trogir's history, down to which walking routes are worth your time.
Location and getting there
Trogir is a World Heritage town on a small island in the Adriatic, linked to the mainland and Čiovo Island by short bridges. Hotel Pasike sits in the middle of the Old Town, among stone streets, Venetian-Roman buildings and the 13th-century Cathedral of St. Lawrence. From the door it is a few minutes' walk to everything that matters — the cathedral, Kamerlengo Fortress, the Loggia, the Cipiko Palace. Split Airport (SPU) is only about 5km away, roughly 10 minutes by car. One guest put it well: walk out the door and you are walking through a living museum.
Things to know before booking
There is no lift — the stairs are part of staying in a preserved building, so factor that in with luggage or limited mobility. There is also no on-site parking; you park in the Ciovo area or outside the Old Town, with the Public Parking by the bridge about a 5-minute walk away at roughly $11–16 a day. And because it is an old building in the center, expect some surrounding street noise during the day.
Our take
If your reason for coming to Trogir is the Old Town itself, Hotel Pasike puts you inside it. The 9.0/10 score is high for a 4-star, rooms start around $109 a night, and the heritage building plus the cellar Konoba give it a sense of place that the beachfront hotels across the bridge cannot match. Trade the lift and the parking for stone walls and a five-minute walk to a 13th-century cathedral, and most history-minded travelers will take that deal.
