Buy tickets for an evening performance and you barely have to think about getting there. Walk 5 to 7 minutes the other way and you hit Calea Victoriei, the historic street lined with Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau buildings, with the National Art Museum and the former royal palace along the same stretch. The Piata Romana metro station on line M2 is about an 8-minute walk, opening up the rest of the city, and Henri Coanda Airport (OTP) is roughly 30 to 40 minutes by car. If your plan is to spend the day walking Bucharest and soaking up the classic atmosphere, this address asks almost nothing of you.

Things to know before booking

Straight talk to help you decide. The complaint that comes up most in reviews is street noise in the rooms that face outward. This is not a roaring main road, but traffic and the buzz of the district do carry in during the evening and late at night, so if you sleep lightly, ask for a room on the inner side of the building or a higher floor when you book.
