In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The rooms here have been renovated and look more modern, with Mickey and Donald artwork above the bed and a Murphy bed that folds away. The honest part you should know before booking: these are the smallest rooms at Disney — around 260 sq ft, sleeping 4. The beds are fairly firm, the walls are thin (you'll hear your neighbours), and there's no Family Suite. What you get in return is the lowest price on property, with the full set of Disney guest perks still included.
Food and amenities
The real draw is the giant sports icons — sculptures and structures standing 3 storeys tall for kids to photograph and run around: a walk-under American football helmet, a giant Spalding tennis can built as a stairwell, a tennis racket with Donald and Daisy, a giant Louisville Slugger baseball bat, a basketball whistle, and surfboards in the Surf's Up zone, with the ground painted in sports markings and Mickey-head logos. Sporty kids get to enjoy it like one enormous playground. For the pools, the kid highlight is the Grand Slam Pool, shaped like a baseball diamond with Goofy on the pitcher's mound spraying water at the kids, plus the ocean-shaped Surfboard Bay pool ringed by giant surfboards. There's also an End Zone food court and free Movies Under the Stars screenings outdoors in the evening.
Location and getting there
Transport is buses only — to all 4 parks plus Disney Springs, with no Skyliner, monorail or boat. The bus stop is shared with All-Star Music and Movies, and Sports is often the first stop on the route, so the bus stops several times before reaching a park. Allow extra time, especially in the morning and after fireworks. On the plus side, it sits close to Animal Kingdom, so that bus ride is quick. Orlando International (MCO) is roughly 30-45 minutes away by taxi, Mears or rental car.
Things to know before booking
The big one: the main Surfboard Bay pool is closed for refurbishment January to April 2026. If you come during that window, you'll use the Grand Slam pool (open as normal) or walk over to the pools at All-Star Music or Movies — so check the pool status when you book if you're travelling early in 2026. Beyond that, expect the smallest rooms at Disney, firm beds, thin walls, and a youth-sports-group crowd that can get loud. This is also the least Disney-feeling of the All-Stars, leaning more on sports than on characters.
Our take
After reading through plenty of real guest reviews, All-Star Sports works best for families on the tightest budget with active, sporty kids who want to stay at a genuine Disney resort for as little as possible — the kids get the giant sports icons and the Goofy pool. The trade-offs are a small room sleeping 4, firm beds, buses only, a sports-group atmosphere, and the Surfboard Bay pool closure in early 2026 (check before booking). Families of 5-6 who need a suite should go to All-Star Music (Family Suite); if you'd rather a Toy Story theme, see All-Star Movies; and if you want the Skyliner or a bigger room, move up to Pop Century or Art of Animation above.

Insider Tips
- Travelling January to April 2026? Check first — the main Surfboard Bay pool is closed for refurbishment, so you'll use Grand Slam or the All-Star Music or Movies pools instead.
- Let sporty kids photograph the giant icons (walk under the football helmet, find the tennis can) and play in the Grand Slam pool where Goofy sprays water.
- It's the cheapest Disney option but with full guest perks — ask for a 'preferred' room near Stadium Hall or the buses if you'd rather not walk far.
- Allow extra time for the bus (Sports is often the first stop, with several stops along the way), and for 5-6 people go to All-Star Music (Family Suite) instead.
