Disney's Sequoia Lodge
by the TopOfHotel team
Sequoia Lodge is the best-value pick among the pool hotels - a sequoia-forest lodge on Lake Disney with the slide-and-waterfall Quarry Pool and a giant stone fireplace, with the same walkable park access as the 4-star hotels at a 3-star price.

In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Rooms come in forest tones of green and brown with cute little-bear and Bambi motifs, and the family rooms take 4-5 people - good for a family that wants to stay together. Talking straight, though, the standard rooms run fairly small and the palette reads dark, so some guests find them more closed-in than a brighter hotel. Because this is a large property of several buildings set in the forest, some of the blocks - the standard ones especially - are a long walk from the lobby and pool, so it is worth asking for a central building or the Golden Forest zone when you book.
Food and amenities
The real draw for families is Quarry Pool, themed as a forest stone quarry with fake boulders, a waterfall and slides, and built with both indoor and outdoor sections - which matters a lot in the changeable European weather, since you can move inside when the day turns. The water stays heated and kids can ride the slides under the waterfall all day; guests rate it one of the best pools among the mid-priced hotels at Disneyland Paris. Back in the lobby, the centerpiece is a giant stone fireplace at Redwood Bar, lit for real in winter - a cozy spot to sit with the kids over a hot chocolate. Dining runs to Hunter's Grill, the buffet, and there is no regular character dining in the hotel.
Location and getting there
Sequoia sits right on Lake Disney, the same lakeside spot as the 4-star hotels, and you walk along the water past Newport Bay and Disney Village into the park in about 12-15 minutes - or take the free ferry or shuttle. Like every hotel in the resort, guests get Extra Magic Time to enter the park before regular opening. From the rooms the view looks over the sequoia pines and the lake, with the PanoraMagique balloon floating over Disney Village in the distance. For getting in and out of the area, Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy station (RER A and TGV) is right by the parks and reaches central Paris in about 40 minutes, and Paris CDG airport is roughly 35-40 minutes by Magical Shuttle or taxi.
Things to know before booking
Two things to weigh. First, the standard rooms are small and the forest tones run dark, which not everyone loves - if you want brighter or bigger rooms, Newport Bay is the step up. Second, some buildings are a fair walk from the lobby and pool, so families with small kids should request a central block. And note there is no regular character dining on site, plus the 12-15 minute walk into the park - the ferry and free shuttle soften that, but it is not steps from the gate like the flagship.
Our take
Reading through a lot of real guest reviews, Sequoia Lodge is the one we rate the best value of the lot for a family that wants a good pool, a walkable park location and a warm forest feel on a 3-star budget. You get the all-weather Quarry Pool, the giant stone fireplace in the lobby and the same lakeside setting as the 4-star hotels. What you have to accept is small, dark-toned rooms and some buildings that are a long walk out. If you want brighter or bigger rooms, look at Newport Bay above; if you want to trim the budget further and do not mind skipping the pool, Cheyenne (cowboy and Toy Story) and Santa Fe (Cars) are the next two steps down.
