Further out, Crazy House is a 7-minute drive, the 1933 Bao Dai Palace summer residence is 10 minutes, and Truc Lam Pagoda with Tuyen Lam Lake is 18 minutes. The Cau Dat tea estate is a 40-minute drive. Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) is 30 km out, about a 40-minute taxi ride at roughly VND 350,000.

Things to know before booking

First, this is a 100-plus-year-old building and some rooms show wear; the garden-side Heritage Deluxe rooms can have old plaster and creaky parquet, so request a Lake View Deluxe or Heritage Suite, the most recently renovated. Second, the price matches a 5-star heritage address: garden rooms from about $91, lake view from $130, the Heritage Suite around $270, and peaks past $320 over Tet and Christmas. Third, the lift is small and slow in the old building, so check-in at 2pm can mean a 5-to-7-minute wait; a floor-2 room is an easy walk up. Fourth, late-night piano from the lobby can carry to rooms directly above it, so ask for a floor-3 lake-side room to stay clear of the sound.
