In-Depth Review

Rooms and decor

The lobby is on the 41st floor, so you ride a high-speed lift up to check in at a hall that looks out over 180 degrees of Kowloon. Every guest room sits from the 42nd floor up, which means a city view in all of them. Standards start at 33 sqm, done in a contemporary Asian Modern style, with a King bed and a bathroom that has both a tub and a separate shower. Plenty of guests in the reviews keep it simple — clean rooms, great views, and the mall link is hard to beat. The Suites add a bay-window seat with a distant look toward Victoria Harbour.

Food and amenities

The outdoor rooftop pool on the 41st floor is the highest and best-looking pool in Mongkok — you swim with the Kowloon skyline around you. Chuan Spa runs traditional Chinese massage and wellness therapy on the Wu Xing five-element philosophy, and the gym stays open 24 hours. Down at lobby level, The Place lays out a wide breakfast buffet that mixes Western, Chinese and Japanese, while Alibi Wine Dine Be Social handles the modern bar-and-restaurant side.

Location and getting there

The hotel anchors part of the giant Langham Place complex on Shanghai Street, joining the office tower, the mall and the hotel in one building. The 600,000 sq ft mall carries 300+ shopsH&M, Uniqlo, Apple, Sephora — plus more than 30 restaurants. From the door it's about 5 minutes on foot to Ladies Market on Tung Choi Street, 5 minutes to Sneaker Street on Fa Yuen Street, and 10 minutes to Yuen Po Bird Garden and Flower Market Road. For the airport, the Airport Express from Kowloon Station reaches HKIA in roughly 25 minutes.

Things to know before booking

This is the priciest pick on the list — rates open near $120 a night and climb past $270 for the top rooms. Mongkok is one of the loudest, most crowded districts in Hong Kong, so even up high you may catch some street noise, and it is the opposite of a quiet retreat. Worth remembering too: the lobby sits on the 41st floor, so every arrival and departure means a lift ride before you reach the street.

Our take

Cordis opened back in 2004 as Langham Place Hotel and took the Cordis name in 2015, and it has held a 9.0/10 on Booking.com — a level of 5-star service that's genuinely rare in Mongkok. If you want a real luxury base where you can drop into the mall and the MTR without touching the street, and still be five minutes from the markets, this is the one to book in the district.

Frequently Asked Questions

Was Cordis previously the Langham Place Hotel?
Yes. Cordis Hong Kong went by Langham Place Hotel until 2015, when Langham Hotels launched the new Cordis brand for a more modern, lifestyle-luxury feel than the classic Langham.
Does it really link straight to the MTR and the mall?
It does — connected indoors to both Mong Kok MTR and Langham Place Mall, so you can move between them without going outside even in heavy rain. That makes it a strong choice for families and older travelers.
Is it close to Ladies Market and Sneaker Street?
Very. Ladies Market (Tung Choi Street) and Sneaker Street (Fa Yuen Street) are only a 5- to 10-minute walk away, which is about the best location you can get for street-market shopping in Hong Kong.
