In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The rooms here are built around one thing: the view. Every one is angled out toward the Himalaya, so you can wake up to sunrise on the peaks without getting out of bed — guests keep calling it a once-in-a-lifetime thing to open your eyes to Everest from your own room. The decor is Nepali-meets-modern, the beds are soft and the bathrooms clean, and the duvets are thick on purpose: Nagarkot stays cool the whole year round.
Food and amenities
The main restaurant serves Nepali, Indian and international plates, with a breakfast buffet included in most packages — reviewers single out the Dal Bhat, the real Nepali version. The on-site spa runs traditional Nepali massage and wellness therapy, which is exactly what you want after a day hiking or out chasing the view in the evening.
Location and getting there
Club Himalaya sits on the Nagarkot ridge at roughly 2,175 m — the spot reckoned to be the best place to see the Himalaya anywhere in the Kathmandu Valley. Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) is 25 km out, about a 1.5-hour drive, and central Kathmandu is 32 km away, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. The UNESCO-listed Changu Narayan Temple is just 9 km off and Bhaktapur Durbar Square 17 km.
Things to know before booking
The Everest view is the whole reason to come, and it's weather-dependent. The best windows are March to May and October to November; the summer monsoon (June to September) often fogs the peaks out, while winter (December to February) gives the clearest skies but real cold. It also runs pricier than the other resorts on the ridge, and the building is older — well looked after over the years, but not new. For the best Everest odds, ask for a higher north-facing room.
Our take
This is the one for couples, honeymooners and anyone who wants that open-your-eyes-to-the-Himalaya moment from the bed. It's a resort Nepal veterans have known since the 1990s, scoring 8.7/10, and yes, it costs more than its neighbours — but for the view and the experience, plenty of guests reckon it's worth it.
