In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The hotel is a tower that starts on floor 23 of CentralWorld and climbs to floor 55, and it carries a real-guest review average of about 9.3/10. Reviewers describe the Deluxe room at 36 sq m on the 40th floor, with 2.7-metre floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the whole Ratchaprasong skyline — CentralWorld, Big C and the Erawan Shrine glowing below all night. The King bed wore a thick soft duvet, the cream-marble bathroom had a rain shower, and there was a Nespresso machine plus a minibar. Open the curtains at dawn and the first light catches the King Power Mahanakhon tower in the distance.
Food and amenities
Red Sky on floor 55 is the headline: a horseshoe-shaped open-air bar with a skylight that shifts color to the music, where the signature Bangkok Sunset cocktail runs about $19 and the breeze carries a far view of the Chao Phraya. One level up, CRU Champagne Bar pours Moet by the glass at roughly $24. Mornings are for the buffet at World Cafe on floor 23 — dim sum, fresh Japanese, a made-to-order egg station — and it is easy to lose two and a half hours there. The hotel also keeps a pool, spa and fitness center.
Location and getting there
Step out of the lobby, ride down to the ground floor, and you are inside CentralWorld — eight floors, 100+ restaurants, ZARA, UNIQLO and a Sephora Beauty Hall. You can walk through to Big C Ratchadamri, the Sub Zero ice rink and the Erawan Shrine without meeting the sun. BTS Chit Lom and Siam sit about 500 m away on covered walkways. The plaza out front is the country's biggest New Year Countdown stage, so a high room over December 28 to January 1 turns the fireworks into a private show.
Things to know before booking
The location is also the catch: Ratchaprasong is one of Bangkok's worst traffic knots, so at rush hour the covered walk to the Skytrain usually beats a taxi. The hotel sits a 5-minute walk from Siam Square proper rather than inside it. And rooms sell out weeks ahead around the December Countdown and Songkran in April, with rates rising to match — book early or choose neutral dates. Rates start near $140 and run to roughly $370 for the higher suites.
Our take
Centara Grand at CentralWorld is the answer for travelers who want to wake up to a sky-high Bangkok view and never leave the building to shop, eat or catch a train. We send romantic couples, shopping-minded families and business travelers meeting around Ratchaprasong here first.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- This is a genuine 5-star tower stacked on top of CentralWorld, with the lobby on floor 23 and rooms climbing to floor 55, so the whole hotel sits above the noise of the street.
- The lift drops you straight into CentralWorld, the largest mall in Thailand, with eight floors, 100+ restaurants and anchors like ZARA, UNIQLO and a Sephora Beauty Hall — you can shop, eat and reach Big C Ratchadamri without stepping into the heat.
- Rooms open onto wide city views through 2.7-metre floor-to-ceiling glass; guests rate the view 9.5, and high-floor units catch the Erawan Shrine lit up all night.
- Red Sky on floor 55 is a horseshoe-shaped open-air rooftop restaurant and bar with a color-changing skylight, and CRU Champagne Bar sits one level above it for Moet by the glass.
- The plaza out front is the biggest New Year Countdown venue in the country, so a high room over the holidays puts the fireworks at eye level.
- Ratchaprasong is one of Bangkok's worst traffic knots; at rush hour a taxi can crawl, so the covered walk to BTS Chit Lom is often faster than a car.
- It is a 5-minute walk from Siam Square proper rather than right in it, which matters if you wanted to be on the student-shopping side of the tracks.
- Rooms fill weeks in advance around the late-December Countdown and Songkran in April, and rates climb with them, so book early or pick neutral dates.

- Ask for a high floor at booking — the views jump noticeably above floor 40, and that is where the Mahanakhon tower comes into frame.
- Time a stay for December 28 to January 1 and you can watch the CentralWorld Countdown fireworks from your own window instead of the crowd below.
