In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Avista Hideaway picked a clever spot — a ridge above Patong, high enough to cut off the noise and chaos of Bangla Road, but close enough that you can drive down in 5 minutes. That's exactly why MGallery put the word Hideaway in the name. All 154 rooms and suites were renovated in 2025 in a contemporary style, with wood, gold and cream tones, high ceilings, and large private balconies that in many rooms look straight out over Patong Bay. Reviews on Trip.com (8.6/10) call the rooms spacious and spotless, with soft king beds, a rain shower, and a separate jacuzzi tub. Suites get Hermès amenities. The 80 sqm Family Suite gives kids real room to run around, and the Pool Access rooms open straight onto the water — handy for couples who want it easy.
Food and amenities
The highlight here is the three pools stepping down the hillside. The top one has a swim-up bar where you can soak and sip at once, the middle pool is a wide family one, and the lowest has a small artificial waterfall. The other thing you won't find easily elsewhere is the 9-hole rooftop mini-golf, open 16:00 to 22:00 daily and free for guests — kids love it, and couples use it for an easy evening. On food, the main restaurant, The Hideaway, does Western and Thai, while the signature Indian fine-dining room earned a Michelin Plate for boldly spiced North Indian dishes served on brass, paired with a pricey but worthwhile wine list. There's also a Tom Yum and Pad Thai cooking class every Wednesday to Friday, a floating breakfast served in the pool, a sauna, and the Avista Hideaway Spa using Thai and Ayurvedic treatments. Guests who came after the 2025 renovation rate it highly. Overall score: 8.8/10.
Location and getting there
The location is the smart compromise between quiet and convenience near the food and nightlife. The resort sits on a high ridge above Patong, so many rooms get full bay views and there's no traffic noise at night — yet it's only 2.5 km from Patong Beach and Bangla Road, a 5-minute drive. The resort runs a free shuttle to the beach every 30 minutes, from 09:00 to 23:00, and it's very easy to use. A tuk-tuk round-trip on your own runs only about $6 to $9. Phuket airport is 30 km away, a 45-minute to 1-hour drive, and the resort can arrange an airport transfer for around $23 to $34. If you want to get out to Kata or Karon, it's a 15 to 20-minute drive.
Things to know before booking
Straight talk to help you decide. First, food, drink and spa prices inside the resort run high — meals are about $29 to $51 a head, drinks at the swim-up bar roughly $7 to $13, and a 90-minute spa treatment starts around $100. On a budget, take the shuttle down and eat at the street restaurants in Patong, which are far cheaper. Second, it's not on the beach — you take the shuttle down every time, which is convenient but costs a little time. If you expect to wake up and step straight onto sand, this isn't it; look at Katathani or Centara Karon, which are genuinely beachfront. Third, the resort is on a hill, so the internal paths go up and down. There are free buggies to ferry you around, but if walking slopes is hard for you, ask for a room near the lobby.
Our take
Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong - MGallery works really well for anyone who wants the fun and convenience of Patong without the noise at bedtime. Privacy on the hill, plus three pools, rooftop mini-golf and a Michelin Indian dining room, is a combination that's hard to find anywhere else. If the trip in your head is a quiet luxury resort that still lets you head down to Bangla every night, this fits. But if you want to wake up and walk straight onto the beach, another option suits you better. Overall we give it 8.8/10 — best for couples, families, and anyone who wants a balance of luxury and fun.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The hilltop location is the whole pitch: quiet enough to actually sleep, with no street noise at night, but only a 5-minute drive down to Patong Beach and Bangla Road. Many rooms look straight out over Patong Bay.
- Three pools step down the slope. The top one has a swim-up bar where you can sit in the water with a drink, the middle pool is a big family one, and the lowest has a small artificial waterfall.
- All 154 rooms and suites were renovated in 2025 in a contemporary style — wood, gold and cream tones, high ceilings and large private balconies. Guests consistently call them spacious and spotless.
- The free 9-hole rooftop mini-golf is genuinely uncommon for a Phuket resort. It opens 16:00 to 22:00 daily and costs nothing for guests — kids love it and it works as an easy evening for couples too.
- There's a real activity roster beyond the pools: a floating breakfast served in the pool, plus a Tom Yum and Pad Thai cooking class running every Wednesday to Friday.
- Eating, drinking and the spa inside the resort cost a lot. Meals run about $29 to $51 a head, drinks at the swim-up bar are roughly $7 to $13, and a 90-minute spa treatment starts around $100. On a budget, take the shuttle down and eat at the street restaurants in Patong, which are far cheaper.
- It is not on the beach. You take the shuttle down to the sand every time — convenient, but it costs you a little time. If your idea of a beach holiday is opening the door onto sand, look at places like Katathani or Centara Karon that sit right on the beach.
- The resort is built on a hillside, so the internal paths involve some up-and-down. There are free buggies to carry you around, but if walking slopes is hard for you, ask for a room near the lobby.
