In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Imagine walking into a hotel and feeling like you have just stepped into a serious collector's private gallery — that is the spell At Six casts. Opened in 2017 on Brunkebergstorg in the heart of Norrmalm, the hotel is part of the Nobis Hospitality Group, and the owners — committed art collectors — spent years rehabilitating what used to be a forgotten corner of Stockholm. The interiors are by Universal Design Studio of London: 343 rooms in graphite, black and copper, restrained and confident in the Scandi-luxury way that does not shout. Open your door and you find fabric-clad walls and deep carpets that swallow sound, a king bed with a leather headboard, a dark-timber desk that suits business travelers, a grey-marble bathroom with copper fittings, and Byredo amenities scenting the whole room. Every room hangs at least one piece of contemporary art. If your taste runs to moody Wallpaper-magazine interiors, you will love it. If you prefer bright, light-toned rooms, the lower floors can feel a touch dim — ask for a higher floor to be safe.
Food and the live-music rooftop
After the design, the second heartbeat of At Six is TAK — the top-floor Japanese restaurant and bar, and a genuine Stockholm nightlife address. TAK means "roof" in Swedish, which is literal enough. Floor-to-ceiling glass opens the room to a panorama of the city; bartenders build signature cocktails around Nordic ingredients; and live music plays every evening, from jazz and soul through electronic — multiple reviews note that locals come for the bar, not just hotel guests. Next door is the Blanche & Hierta sky terrace with a 360-degree view, free for guests. Downstairs sits the Dining Room, framed by an iconic brass spiral staircase, serving Mediterranean-Nordic plates with a long wine list — many reviews call The Dining Bar the highlight of dinner, dim and conversation-friendly. For mornings, the on-site Marrows cafe pours good coffee and Scandi pastries — some days you can smell the bread baking before you reach the lobby.
Location and the new face of Brunkebergstorg
The location is another ace. Brunkebergstorg is a historic Norrmalm square that has been quietly reinvented over the last decade into one of the city's most interesting blocks, lined now with independent cafes, restaurants and design shops. Step out of At Six and you are inside that scene. A roughly 5-minute walk brings you to T-Centralen, Stockholm's main metro hub where every line meets, so the rest of the city is a single ride away. From T-Centralen the Arlanda Express reaches the airport in 20 minutes with no traffic risk. Want to walk the old town? Gamla Stan is about 10 minutes on foot, past the opera house and a waterfront where ferries dock. The pedestrian shopping street Drottninggatan is a few minutes the other direction. Net: if your Stockholm plan is mostly on foot with the metro as backup, At Six is one of the best start-and-end-points you can pick.
Things to know before booking
Speaking plainly, the most common complaint in real reviews is the room palette — the graphite, black and copper look fantastic in pictures but some guests find rooms too dark, especially on low floors with limited natural light, and the in-room spot lighting is dimmer than you might want for working or reading. If you love moody interiors, you will love it; if you want a bright, airy room, request a high floor facing the square. Second is in-house pricing: food and drinks at TAK and Dining Room run noticeably above the Stockholm average — cocktails around 200-250 SEK, and a dinner for two with wine can land near 3,000 SEK. Many reviewers suggest using the hotel for drinks and eating dinner in Östermalm or Södermalm for better value. Third, the wellness offer is light: no pool and the spa and fitness areas are small for a 5-star. If you like to spend half a day in your hotel, you may feel under-served. Finally, on Friday and Saturday nights, rooms close to the top of the building can occasionally pick up a low bass thump from TAK — ask for a mid-floor room if that worries you.
Our take
From reading hundreds of real reviews, At Six is a hotel that sells taste and atmosphere, not the classic European luxury of an old grand hotel. If your trip in your head is checking in, wandering the lobby art, going up to TAK for cocktails and live music with a friend, and sleeping in a magazine-styled moody room, At Six will make you fall for Stockholm in one night. It is best for design-minded couples, business travelers who value taste, and solo travelers who want to soak up the city more than they want to sit in the room. If you are after bright airy rooms, a pool, a serious spa floor and good-value hotel meals, look elsewhere — the Grand Hôtel or a waterfront classic will suit you better. Overall we score it 8.7/10 as a design hotel that has become a Stockholm destination in its own right.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The entire hotel was designed by Universal Design Studio of London and houses a private art collection of over 80 contemporary pieces by Tacita Dean, Olafur Eliasson and Jaume Plensa — staying here feels closer to sleeping in a private gallery than a traditional hotel.
- Location on Brunkebergstorg puts you in the centre of Norrmalm: about 5 minutes on foot to T-Centralen, the city's main metro hub (every line), and roughly 10 minutes to Gamla Stan, the old town.
- TAK, the top-floor Japanese restaurant and bar, is a genuine Stockholm nightlife destination — strong cocktail program, live music every evening, and a crowd that includes locals, not just hotel guests.
- The Blanche & Hierta sky terrace gives an open 360-degree view over the city — Gamla Stan, City Hall and the islands all visible — and is free for hotel guests.
- The ground-floor Dining Room, set beneath a sculptural brass spiral staircase, serves Mediterranean-Nordic plates with a long wine list — many reviews call The Dining Bar the best part of dinner.
- The graphite-black-copper palette is striking in photos but several guests find the rooms feel dark — particularly low-floor rooms with limited natural light, and the in-room spot lighting is dimmer than some travelers want for working or reading.
- Food and drinks inside the hotel — especially at TAK and Dining Room — sit noticeably above the Stockholm average; many reviewers suggest using the property for drinks and then eating dinner out in Östermalm or Södermalm.
- The fitness and spa areas are small for a 5-star in this price bracket and there is no pool — guests who like to spend half a day on hotel facilities may feel short-changed.

Insider Tips
- Request a high-floor room facing the square (level 7 or above) — more natural light, wider view, and the cleanest fix for the dark-room complaint.
- Go up to TAK on Thursday-Saturday around 8 pm for the live music and signature cocktails — it gets busy fast, so book a table in advance through the concierge.
- Use the Blanche & Hierta sky terrace during golden hour just before sunset — it is free for guests and the light over Gamla Stan is the best photo of your trip.
