In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Book the mountain side. The view-facing rooms run about 30 square metres with pale wood floors and a king bed under a thick duvet you'll be glad of when Sapa drops to 12°C after dark. The big windows open all the way, so you can sit with the complimentary flower tea and watch the summit drift in and out of cloud. The hotel opened in 2017 (as Aira Boutique) and keeps things small at roughly 50 rooms — relaxed, not stuffy, with staff who learn your name on day one and speak fluent English.
Food and amenities
The surprise is the rooftop pool, set high up with a near-180-degree mountain view — though be warned, it's an unheated outdoor pool at altitude, so the water runs genuinely cold. Guests tend to dangle their legs in for the view rather than swim laps, then head straight for the spa floor right behind it. A 60-minute massage here costs far less than the same treatment in Bangkok, and afterwards there's a steam room, a proper gym, and a lounge by the railing where you can stretch out and keep watching the fog. The 9.4 guest score makes it obvious why rooms go quickly.
Location and getting there
Aliana sits on Hoang Lien Street, a 5-minute walk from Sapa Square and the Stone Church, with the Fansipan cable car about 0.6 km away. The front desk runs Muong Hoa valley treks with local Hmong guides who walk you past rice terraces and Hmong-Dao villages, transfer included and cheaper than booking online. Lao Cai railway station is around 32 km off; staff arrange the shared van. Room service runs 24 hours and Wi-Fi is free in every room.
Things to know before booking
This is the priciest of the better-value Sapa picks — rooms start near $57 and climb toward $115 for the best mountain-view nights, so it's a step up from the budget end of this list. The rooftop pool is unheated and genuinely cold — fine for a bracing dip and the view, less so if you were hoping to swim. The panorama rooms sell out first in high season; reserve one specifically rather than chancing it at check-in. And no pets — a dealbreaker if you're travelling with a dog. None of that dents the core offer; just go in clear-eyed.
Our take
Aliana Boutique is the best way to start a Sapa trip — a mountain panorama, a spa that earns its keep, and a centre-of-town address you can walk everywhere from. It suits couples and travellers who'd rather not compromise on the view or the service, and who are happy to pay a bit more to get both in one boutique 4-star.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The strongest boutique 4-star on the Sapa list, open since 2017 (previously Aira Boutique, same building).
- Around 50 rooms, and the better ones face the Hoang Lien Son range head-on — several have balconies you can take morning coffee on.
- Central without being on the noisy strip: a 5-minute walk to Sapa Square and 0.6 km to the Fansipan cable car.
- A genuinely full spa floor, plus an outdoor rooftop pool with a near-180-degree mountain view — the steam room and gym are the place to warm up in a town that drops to around 12°C at night.
- Staff arrange Hmong-guided treks through the Muong Hoa valley, transfers included, and speak fluent English from check-in.
- The starting rate, near $57 a night, sits well above the budget hotels lower on this list.
- The panoramic mountain-view rooms book out first in high season, so reserve one specifically rather than hoping at check-in.
- No pets allowed, which rules it out if you're travelling with a dog.

Insider Tips
- Ask for a room on the mountain-panorama side, not the street side — the view is the whole point here.
- Book the hotel's Muong Hoa valley trek; the Hmong guides walk you through rice terraces and Hmong-Dao villages, transfer included.
- It's a 5-minute stroll to both Sapa Square and the Stone Church, so skip the taxi and walk.
