In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The rooms run a clean, modern look in soft brown and cream, with parquet floors and marble in the bathroom. Standard size is 22-26 sq m, with a king-size or twin bed, a 49-inch Smart TV and a Nespresso machine in every room. Reviews tend to land on the same point — it looks pricier than what you pay. The Premium Sea View rooms cost about $63 more and add a private balcony facing straight out to the water, which makes them the best value in the building. Standard rooms sit on the cour interieure, the inner courtyard — quieter, but with no view.
Food and amenities
The thing every AC Hotel review mentions is the AC Lounge — a Spanish-style bar in the lobby that pours proper Spanish gin-tonics, not the usual Gordon's pour, alongside tapas like jamon iberico, patatas bravas and croquetas for $9-15. The mood sits somewhere between a spa and a hotel bar. The gym runs 24 hours with a treadmill, dumbbells and a Smith machine, though there is no pool. Standard Marriott Bonvoy benefits apply, and Wi-Fi is free.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits on the western end of Promenade des Anglais near Plage de Carras — cross the road and you are at the water, a public pebble beach free to sit on, the same as the rest of Nice. Old Town is 1.5 km away, a 20-minute walk or 10 minutes on Tram L1 from the Carras stop. The airport, NCE, is about 20 minutes on Tram L2 for around $1.60. Trains to Monaco, Cannes and Antibes leave from Gare de Nice-Ville, 15 minutes away by tram, and Marriott runs an airport shuttle for an extra $70 one way for 1-3 people.
Things to know before booking
The catch is the distance from Old Town — at 1.5 km, it is a 20-minute walk or a short tram ride, so this is not the pick if you want the old quarter on your doorstep. A balcony only comes with Premium Sea View rooms and above; Standard rooms face the courtyard with no sea view at all. And there is no pool, so the beach across the road is your only place to swim.
Our take
This works best for couples in their late 20s to 40s who want a Promenade beachfront spot without paying 5-star money, for business travelers on Marriott Bonvoy, and for anyone who prefers clean modern design over Belle Epoque grandeur. It opened in 2018, scores 8.6/10 and starts from $223 a night. Skip it if you need Old Town close at hand or a pool on site.
