Zambia — find the right stay, from deciding to booking
“Victoria Falls on the Livingstone side, Devil's Pool, walking safaris, and the Zambezi River through wild Africa”
Zambia is a land of safaris and mighty waterfalls in the heart of Africa — Livingstone beside the largest waterfall in the world, the Devil's Pool where you can actually swim to the very edge of the falls, South Luangwa National Park famous for walking safaris and leopards, Lower Zambezi National Park for boat cruises among elephants and hippos, and Lake Kariba, one of the world's largest reservoirs — Zambia is often quieter than its neighbors, perfect for nature lovers and up-close safaris.

Lower Zambezi cruise

Rituals and culture
The Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people and many tribal traditions still carried on across Zambia.

How many days should I spend in Zambia?+
7–10 days — Livingstone 2–3 days (falls, Devil's Pool, rafting) + South Luangwa 3–4 days (safari) + Lower Zambezi or Kariba 2 days. With less time, 5 days covering Livingstone + South Luangwa is still worth it.
Do Thai citizens need a visa for Zambia?+
Apply for an e-visa in advance or get a VOA (Visa on Arrival) at the airport. You should also carry a Yellow Fever Certificate — check the latest requirements before traveling.
When is the Devil's Pool open?+
Only during low water, Aug–Jan. In the rainy season (Feb–Jul) the current is too strong. You must book through a licensed operator — you'll be swimming on the edge of a 108-meter drop.
Is Zambia safe for tourists?+
Zambia is fairly peaceful for Africa, with little violent crime, but watch your bag in markets and busy areas. Safaris in the parks always require a guide. Beware of malaria and take preventive medication.
Tips before you go to Zambia
- Always carry your yellow fever certificate — some checkpoints inspect it seriously.
- Take malaria prevention medication before and during your trip.
- Walking safaris in South Luangwa must be booked ahead — small groups fill up fast.
- Devil's Pool is open only Aug–Jan — book through a licensed operator.
- Exchange for kwacha in Zambia; USD is accepted in Livingstone but at poor rates.
- Khaki or olive-green clothing suits safaris — avoid white and bright colors.
