Where to stay in Doha — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Doha, the capital of Qatar, is a Gulf city that blends gleaming futurism with old Arabian soul. On one side you get the glassy skyline of West Bay and the luxe man-made island of The Pearl; on the other, the spice-scented alleys of Souq Waqif and the jaw-dropping Museum of Islamic Art. Stroll the 7-km waterfront Corniche, sip karak tea, dig into a plate of machboos, then head out for a desert safari where the dunes meet the sea. Doha works for chilled-out couples, luxury seekers and families alike — and as one of the Middle East's biggest aviation hubs, it's an easy add-on to almost any trip.
Why stay in Doha
World-class museums
The I.M. Pei–designed Museum of Islamic Art and Jean Nouvel's desert-rose National Museum of Qatar are stunning inside and out — two of the finest museums in the Gulf.
A living souq
Souq Waqif is a maze of 19th-century mud-brick lanes selling spices, perfumes and textiles by day, then buzzing with restaurants, shisha lounges and performers at night.
Waterfront futurism
The West Bay skyline, the upscale island of The Pearl and the new city of Lusail are made for photos — especially around sunset over Doha Bay.
Desert on the doorstep
Drive 4WDs over the dunes, try sandboarding, then watch the desert meet the sea at Khor Al Adaid — the Inland Sea is under 90 minutes from the city.
