🚆 Getting around Hunza Valley
Fly to Gilgit
PIA flies Islamabad to Gilgit in about 1 hour (weather permitting), then it's roughly 100 km / 2-3 hours by road into Hunza.
Bus from Islamabad
NATCO and Faisal Movers run Rawalpindi to Hunza (Aliabad) in 16-22 hours depending on road conditions, mostly departing in the evening.
Karakoram Highway (KKH)
The main route in and one of the world's great scenic drives. A car with driver is the easiest way to cover several sights in a day.
Getting around the valley
Hire a car or local taxi for Attabad, Passu and Duikar; within Karimabad the forts and bazaar are an easy walk.
Carry cash
Pakistani Rupees (PKR) rule here. Only larger hotels take cards, so withdraw enough in Gilgit or Aliabad — ATMs are limited.
