Skopje Airport
SKP is 23 km from the city center, with shuttle buses and taxis, and direct flights from many European cities.
Intercity buses
Connecting Skopje-Ohrid-Bitola and other towns. The main lines are punctual and cheap.
Taxis
Cheap, but negotiate or check the meter before getting in. App-based taxis in Skopje are safer.
Car rental
Great for visiting Matka Canyon, the lakes, and monasteries. Country roads are scenic but some are narrow.
Walking around town
Central Skopje and Ohrid's old town are easy to walk — the distance from fortress to river isn't far.

- Local wine is cheap and good. Try ordering it at a restaurant or buy it from a supermarket.
- Skopje has many giant statues and monuments from the Skopje 2014 project — you can stroll and see them free anytime.
