Where to stay in Kasane — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Kasane sits at Botswana's far northeastern tip and serves as the gateway to Chobe National Park — home to the densest elephant population in Africa, with estimates above 50,000. The town hugs the wide Chobe River, and a late-afternoon boat ride here delivers herds of elephants wading down to drink, hippos surfacing, and a fiery riverside sunset. Kasane also sits beside Africa's Four Corners, where Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia nearly meet, and Victoria Falls lies just 70-80 km away — an easy day trip across the border. One small town, two world-class draws: a wildlife safari and one of the planet's greatest waterfalls.
Why stay in Kasane
Africa's densest elephant herds
Chobe is the Land of the Giants. In the dry season thousands of elephants gather along the river — one boat ride gets you up close to massive herds, no luck required.
Safari from the water
Instead of dusty 4x4 tracks, glide quietly past hippos, crocodiles and hundreds of bird species at eye level — the photography is unbeatable.
Safari and a waterfall in one trip
Spot elephants in the morning, cross the border to Victoria Falls — one of the Seven Natural Wonders — in the afternoon. It's barely an hour away.
Legendary river sunsets
The Chobe sunset cruise is the experience travellers rave about most: golden light, still water, elephant silhouettes — pure magic.

When is the best time to visit Kasane?+
The dry season, June to November, is ideal for game viewing: with inland water dried up, animals gather along the Chobe River and big elephant herds are easy to spot, plus the weather is dry and comfortable. The wet season (Dec-Mar) is lush with great birdlife, but wildlife is more dispersed.
Can I visit Victoria Falls from Kasane?+
Easily. The falls are about 70-80 km away and a popular day trip — you cross at Kazungula into Zimbabwe. Tours usually pick up in the morning, walk you through the rainforest viewpoints, do lunch in Victoria Falls town, and return by evening. Bring your passport and check visa rules.
How many nights should I stay?+
At least 2-3 nights to fit in a river safari cruise, a game drive in Chobe National Park, and a Victoria Falls day trip. With more time, add activities like Impalila Island or the hot springs.
