Where to stay in Yerevan — pick the right hotel, book in 3 clicks
Yerevan is the capital of Armenia and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth — founded in 782 BC, older than Rome. Its signature look comes from buildings of pink-and-apricot volcanic tuff that shift colour as the sun moves across the sky. The heart of the city is Republic Square, where dancing fountains light up to music every summer evening. On a clear day, the sacred peak of Mount Ararat floats on the horizon as a backdrop. Add legendary brandy, café-lined avenues and prices that are still wonderfully gentle, and you have one of the Caucasus's most exciting destinations.

When is the best time to visit Yerevan?+
The sweet spots are April–June (10–25°C, apricot trees in bloom) and September–October (mild, fewer crowds, autumn colour). Avoid July–August, when it can hit 35–40°C — though the dry heat is more bearable than humidity.
What currency is used, and are cards accepted?+
The currency is the Armenian Dram (AMD). In Yerevan most restaurants, hotels and shops take cards, but carry some cash for markets, small shops and guesthouses. ATMs and exchange offices are easy to find.
Is Yerevan safe?+
Very safe — crime is low and locals are welcoming, though usual care with valuables in crowds applies. Note: avoid areas within a few kilometres of the Azerbaijan border due to ongoing tensions, but the city of Yerevan itself is trouble-free.
